The 2011 Impact Factor for Nature Communications is 7.396, according to the 2011 Journal Citation Reports® Science Edition (Thomson Reuters, 2012). This places Nature Communications fourth among all multidisciplinary science primary research journals, with Nature being first.
Because Nature Communications launched in April 2010, this 2011 Impact Factor is based on citations to articles published in the 9 month period between April and December 2010. Next year's Impact Factor will include articles published between April 2010 and December 2011, and will be considerably higher as a result.
