Position Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Ohio University (Athens, Ohio) seeks candidates for PhD positions focused on theoretical and computational studies of nanostructures and nanocrystals. The main working place for this theoretical-physics position will be at Ohio University in the group of Prof. Alexander Govorov. Simultaneously, this position simultaneously assumes strong cooperation with the experimental nanotechnology Institute in Chengdu, the group of Prof. Zhiming Wang (http://www.iffs.uestc.edu.cn/facultyResearch/faculty/10.html). The theoretical research group led by Alexander Govorov at Ohio U. is working on optical and photochemical properties of nanostructures and nanomaterials with emphasis on plasmonic nanostructures, hot electrons, hybrid nanoscale systems, quantum effects in plasmonic and excitonic systems, bio-assemblies, nanosystems for energy conversion, etc. Further information about the Ohio research group and its contact details are available at http://www.ohio.edu/cas/physastr ... cfm?profile=govorov.
Candidates should be highly motivated and have a strong background in theoretical condensed-matter physics, computational physics and in the physics of nanostructures. To apply for this position, send an e-mail to Prof. Govorov ( govorov@ohio.edu ).
