dr. mark a olson's group in the institute for molecular design within tianjin university's school of pharmaceutical science and technology is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position to participate in the development of new organic materials with emphasis in supramolecular chemistry, surface science/surface chemistry, soft matter, molecular switches, and molecular machines. specific directions include, 1) development of functional organic materials including both small and macromolecules molecules and the investigation of their performance characteristics in solution as molecular entities, 2) carryover of successful systems into the macromolecular world of polymeric scaffolds, metal-organic frameworks, colloids, and nanoparticulates, eventually leading to 3) incorporation of these macromolecular components into device settings with a wide range of applications from drug delivery to molecular electronics. the postdoctoral fellow will join and collaborate closely with a cohort of research professors within the institute for molecular design including sir james fraser stoddart and dr. chi-hau sue.

key responsibilities:
•        oversee and carryout a variety of research projects within a group of diverse scientists
•        prepare research presentations (both oral and written) on experimental results.
•        communicate results and participate in seminars/symposia and group meetings.
•        assist in directing students, manuscript preparation and grant proposal writing.

well-qualified candidates will have one or more of the following criteria:
•        experience in organic synthesis, purification, and characterization
•        background in materials science
•        background in soft matter chemistry
•        background in supramolecular chemistry
•        experience with drug delivery systems, molecular electronics, molecular switches, and         molecular machines

in addition to at least one of the above, the following are required qualifications:
•        ph.d. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline
•        demonstrated record of accomplishment and achievement documented by scientific publications and presentations
•        evidence of ability to work as an independent researcher with a high level of scientific judgment and competency
•        demonstrated ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with colleagues and peers within a diverse research team

mark olson博士，师从于诺贝尔化学奖得主j. fraser stoddart，毕业于美国西北大学。现全职任教于天津大学，国家青年千人、硕导、博导，独立pi开展科研工作。课题组研究方向涉及新型有机材料、超分子化学、表面化学、软物质、分子开关、分子机器等领域。具体包括：1）研究发现包括小分子和大分子有机功能性材料及其在溶液中的各种表征。2）进行大分子领域的经典方向的研究，包括 高分子骨架，mof，胶体，以及纳米材料 3）并将大分子研究广泛应用到包括药物传递、分子电子的分子器件。目前j. fraser stoddart/mark olson/andrew sue科研团队有6名外籍博后，两名博士生，8名硕士生，2名科研助理，1名lab manager。课题组常年招生，每年接收若干访问学者和本科生毕设，队伍日益壮大。科研成绩优秀者，有参加国际会议的机会。课题组经费充足，提供良好的工作环境。

工作职责：
监督和承担不同课题项目；组会汇报工作进展；协助pi指导学生，撰写文章，申请基金项目等。

工作要求：
化学、材料科学、化工等相关专业博士毕业；有独立撰写文章能力，可独立开展科研；有良好高效的沟通协作能力
有以下方面经验的优先考虑：有机化学合成、分离、表征方面经验；材料科学、软物质化学、超分子化学等相关专业；药物传递系统、分子电子学、分子开关、分子机器等方面经验。

薪酬待遇：
按照天津大学薪酬体系发放基本工资，年薪根据应聘者能力和表现而异。五险一金，住房补贴，节日津贴等。
