Group Description:
The Solar Energy Lab at Penn State is offering a postdoc position on printing flexible perovskite solar cell module. The Solar Module Application and Characterization Lab at Penn State is an interdisciplinary research lab, carrying on the photovoltaic and related research from basic materials science to device and system development. Our research activities include photovoltaic material science, optoelectronic device physics, and bio-incorporated electronics, and flexible solar cell modules. The solar energy laboratory consists of world-class facilities for solar cell material synthesis, material characterization, device fabrication, and characterization. The lab is equipped with advanced equipment to perform the photophysical and electronic characterizations of semiconductors, especially for solar cell materials such as halide perovskite and conjugated polymer.

Work Tasks:
The goal of the project is to develop highly efficient, stable flexible perovskite solar cell module by using scalable deposition techniques, such as spray printing, doctor blading, screen printing, etc. The following tasks will be included in the project.
Fabrication of high-performance flexible perovskite solar cells by exploring efficient electron transport layer, perovskite photo-absorber layer, and interface optimization, etc.
Improve the stability of perovskite solar cells from the aspects of materials composition, interfacing layer, and device architecture.
Development of scalable deposition techniques to print flexible solar cell module. Characterization of electrical and optical properties and photovoltaic performance measurement.
Qualification Requirements:
The applicants are required to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or other backgrounds relevant to this project. Previous experience and knowledge in perovskite photovoltaics would be an advantage. The applicants should be competent in photoelectron characterization techniques, as well as fluent in spoken and written English.

Terms of Employment:
The position is a full-time position for 12 months. Possible extension depends on performance. Onboarding as soon as possible will be advantageous.
