This is a common method to control the length of the grafts from surface confined initiators.

可能我明白你的意思了。你看的应该是在用surface initiate的方法做surface brush,
采用ATRP的方法。很多体系中,因为表面接枝的initiator密度不够(或者绝对量太低),在后续活性聚合的时候,常常会被体系残存的O2失活,导致试验失败
有的人,就在体系里面额外加了一部分自由的引发剂,同时引发。这样失活的时候,
按照几率,至少会在表面上留下一些活性的polymer chain
这个额外加的引发剂就是起到牺牲O2作用的。翻译吗?一定有人用过的,你看看

因为加的sacrificial 引发剂量远远过量(相对于表面的),所以所得分子量可认为与此成比例(忽略表面引发剂的量)
