A recent advance in this system is to design the coordination frameworks of silver(I) halides by incorporation of various organic SDAs (structure-directing agents). In addition, the use of organic spacers to promote the self-assembly of organicinorganic polymeric coordination frameworks has become a very active and important synthetic strategy.5 As previous studies have indicated, concerning the Ag-I/amine systems, the choice of spacer for the SDA has the greatest influence on determining the type and topology of the products. Properties of organic spacers, such as length, geometry, and relative orientation of the functional groups, play a very important role in dictating inorganic polymer framework topology. So far, however, there is still a very limited understanding about the factors that determine their synthesis and the resulting structure, and the attainment of rational control over desired topologies and specific properties still remains a great challenge. Therefore, an investigation into the relationships between the structures of complexes and the nature of SDAs, as well as other factors, is still important.
