Research topics for PhD students

Bio-Intelligent Micro Bio-Lasers for Biomedical and Environmental Sensing
The goal is to investigate the laser emission spectra and laser-images of cells under different structure, stimulation, and mechanical/chemical changes. One of the most important step is to utilize machine learning and image processing to extract features of the cell lasers to do classification for diagnosis. During the whole project, you will learn to cultivate cells, stimulate cells with stress force or drugs, develop tools for image analysis/ machine learning, and build micro-devices such as bioelectronics, programmable robotics, and bio-sensors.

We are looking for backgrounds in Optomechanics, nanophotonics, biosensors, and image analysis for biolaser detection. Experiences in nanofabrication, optical system, cell culture, and machine learning/image analysis are highly preferred.

A Master/BS degree related to Applied Physics, Electrical-Optics, and Biomedical Engineering is more preferred.
