The gelatinization of starch granules in water has been extensively studied since at least 50-60 years. However, the gelatinization in non-aqueous medium has been rarely considered. As mentioned by authors, the issue takes importance from the extended used of plasticers for, e.g., obtaining edible films. In this regard, the results reported in the manuscript deserve consideration for publication. However, as it is, the manuscript is incomplete for recommending publication. The following points are oriented to improving the quality of the manuscript:

1. Conduct FTIR analysis to gain insights in the molecular changes of gelatinized starch chains in glycerol. For instance, the issue of retrogradation is well-known for aqueous medium, but not for glycerol.

2. From FTIR, estimate via deconvolution the ratios 1022/147 and 995/1022 and provide an interpretation according with literature.

3. Estimate the relative crystallinity content from XRD.

4. Flow curves and oscillatory tests could be useful for understanding the gelatinization mechanisms under glycerol conditions. For instance, provide rheological oscillatory tests for the residual starch fraction for the different temperatures.
