PhD position at the University of Florida
Open Positions: One postdoctoral fellow position and two PhD graduate student positions are available in Integrative Mechanobiology Laboratory at University of Florida.
Position Summary: Our lab studies how mechanical forces affect the unexpected molecular responses in living cells and tissues, leading to meaningful changes of biological form and function. We integrate mechanical engineering, nanofabrication, imaging, and computational modeling. We apply our findings and insights to invent new technologies for treating, diagnosing and preventing mechanics-associated human diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and brain disorders. Successful candidate will receive cutting-edge multidisciplinary training, and participate projects with full financial support. Our group deems it is the key responsibility to promote students to achieve their career goals.
Minimum Qualifications for candidate:
1. Strong self-motivation and work ethics for research;
2. Excellent research experience with publication record demonstrating accomplishments;
3. Prior hands-on experience with design and construction of optical microscopes, laser, nanofabrication, LabView, or MATLAB, are highly preferred, but not required;
4. Although our projects requires excellent experimental skills, experience with analytical and numerical simulation, e.g. multiscale modeling, are strong plus;
5. For Post-doctoral candidate: A PhD or MD degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline, including but not limited to mechanical and/or aerospace engineering, materials science, computer science, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, bioengineering, physics, chemistry, medicine, or biology, is required;
6. For PhD candidate: A degree of M.S. is highly preferred. Background in one or more of the engineering or science discipline (mechanical and/or aerospace engineering, materials science, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, bioengineering, or physics) is encouraged to apply, with TOEFL/GRE scores to meet admission requirement.
Contact Info: We cordially welcome highly motivated and creative students to join us. Interested candidates can send your CV (summarizing previous research/work experience, research interest, and other career accomplishments) and contact information of 2 reference letter writers to Prof. Xin Tang at xtang11@gmail.com or xin.tang@ufl.edu with the subject “postdoctoral (or PhD) candidate application”. 返回小木虫查看更多
