Postdocs, Ph.D. and M.S. students needed
The newly-established Khalifa University of Science and Technology is aiming to become a world-class, research-intensive institution, seamlessly integrating research and education to produce world leaders and critical thinkers in applied science and engineering.  The university endeavors to be a leader among research intensive universities of the 21st century, while catalyzing the growth of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates’ rapidly developing knowledge economy.

We have vacancies for postdocs, Ph.D., and M.S. students in the areas of two-dimensional materials and device synthesis as well as molecular simulations using density functional theory.  The goal of the project is to develop low-cost lightweight multi-junction photovoltaics (PV) with high power conversion efficiency (PCE) and superior radiation-resistance for space applications by leveraging a revolutionary manufacturing method invented collaboratively by MIT and Khalifa University of Science and Technology.  PV devices for extraterrestrial operation need to be optimized for high specific power and low areal density due to the limited carry-weight capacity and surface area of the spacecraft.
