PhD position at the University of Florida
There is a PhD opening at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the group of professor Katerina Aifantis, who is joining the university. The topic of study will be on mechanics, but there is flexibility such that it can be either on theory/simulation or experiments (fabrication and characterization) or a combination. Examples of research topics are nanocrystals, Li-ion batteries, biomaterials.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Master’s Degree or have taken graduate level courses for 1-2 years. The applicant must be proficient in English, have strong writing skills, and must be highly motivated and dedicated. Preference will given to those that experience in one or more of the following: Finite Elements, Atomistic Simulations, Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy, Nanoindentation, Atomic Force Microscopy, Nanofabrication.
Position details: The position will require graduate assistant teaching at UF.
