This manuscript is rejected from publication in this journal, based on the review received and my own assessment of this manuscript.

The MIP material prepared shows good selectivity for the target analyte over interfering analytes with similar structure. However the critical issue is the very high non-specific absorption that is observed for this material. This means that the analytical utility of this technique is not clear. If the authors could address this aspect and demonstrate the performance of this material for the analysis of the target analyte in fruit, with interfering species present, then a new submission on this topic could be considered. Such a submission would also require data included that shows comparison of this technique with existing methods, demonstrating where this offers better performance.
