Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy ARPES角分辨光电子能谱简介
Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is one of the most direct
methods of studying the electronic structure of solids. By measuring the kine tic
energy and angular distr ibution of the electrons photo emitted from a samp le
illuminated with sufficient ly high-e nergy radiation, one can gain information
on both the energy and momentum of the electron s propagating inside a
material. This is of vital importance in elucidating the connection between
electronic, magnetic , and chemical structure of solids, in particular for those
complex systems which cannot be appropriate ly described within the
independent-partic le picture. The last deca de witnessed significant progre ss in
this techniqu e and its appli cations, thus ushering in a new era in photo electron
spectroscopy; today, ARPES experim ents with 2 meV energy resolution and
0.28 angular resolution are a reality even for photoemission on solids. In this
paper we will review the fundamentals of the techniqu e and present some
illustrative experimental results; we will show how ARPES can probe the
momentum-dependen t electronic struc ture of solids providing detai led
information on band dispersion and Fermi surfac e as well as on the strength
and nature of many- body correlations, which may profoundl y affect the one-electron excitation spectrum and in turn the macroscopic physical properties.[ 来自科研家族 晶体材料家族 ]
