PhD positions on Electrochemical sensors or Bioseparation
South Dakota State University is a public land-grant research university in Brookings, South Dakota. Founded in 1881, it is the state's largest and most comprehensive university and the oldest continually-operating university in South Dakota. We are looking for PhD positions who can help develop flexible devices, especially on electrochemical sensors. Not limited to electrochemical sensors, the background of energy storage and conversion， bioseparation is also preferred. With the strength in our lab, we will develop functional devices to achieve high precision and multiplex biosensing and high-performance energy storage and conversion. Eventually we expect to develop a self-powered device and further work with clinical samples.
Facilities:
The laboratory (Analytical Chemistry Lab) is fully equipped with:
- Electrochemical equipment’s (numerous potentiostats, fast scan potentiostat with ohmic drop compensation, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), rotating ring/disk electrode (RRDE and RDE)).
- Physicochemical characterization equipment (UV-Vis and IR spectroscopy, BET analysis instrument, TG Analysis, furnace, TEM equipped with HRTEM and EDX).
The University has a full characterization platform with SEM, XRD and confocal Raman equipment readily accessible.
Requirements:
1. With master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Biological Science or other relevant disciplines.
2. Laboratory experience (Practical skills, safety)
3. Knowledge of flexible electronics and electrochemistry will be highly appreciated.
4. Additional skills in scientific English writing and presentation and evaluation tools.
Salary:
The successful candidate will be received graduate assistantship (GRA) in the South Dakota State University.
