Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Machine Learning and First-principles Modeling
A postdoctoral research fellow position is open immediately at the Department of Computing and the Department of Applied Physics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Successful candidate is expected to work with a team of AI and computational materials scientists. The project is to adapt AI techniques such as deep learning in analysis of materials properties and to accelerate the design of electrocatalyst materials.
Candidates should have a PhD degree in physics, materials science or a closely related field (awarded or to be awarded soon). He / she must be well versed in the research areas such as high-throughput calculations, machine learning models, and electrocatalyst materials. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and able to guide undergraduate students. Successful candidate is expected to perform high-throughput calculations based on density functional theory (DFT), develop machine learning models, and database development.
Experience in DFT-based calculations and machine learning is required. In addition, experiences in Matlab, Python, Fortran, and in study of electrocatalyst materials are preferred.
