Postdoctoral fellow in Medicinal Chemistry___McGill University
Position: Postdoctoral fellow in Medicinal Chemistry, under the supervision of Dr. Jian Hui Wu, Faculty of Medicine McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada.
Project description:
This funded project is to develop novel inhibitors of RanGTPase, which is an emerging drug target for ovarian cancer and triple negative breast cancer. Our preliminary work has discovered initial hits as novel inhibitors of RanGTPase, which show selective cytotoxicity against ovarian cancer cells, with no obvious toxic effects on normal cells. For further information, please see our recent US patent application (Patent title: Compounds, pharmaceutical compositions and use thereof as inhibitors of RAN GTPase; Application No: US 62/554,150). As a key member of our team, the candidate is expected to chemically optimize the initial active compounds (i.e., Hit-to-Lead Optimization). Our laboratory includes three components: Computer-Aided Drug Design, Medicinal Chemistry and Biological Assays, providing a multidisciplinary environment. We routinely utilize structure-based drug design approaches to identify novel derivatives of active compounds. The candidate will have the opportunity to be trained in computer-aided drug design.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who is interested in anticancer drug discovery and determines to develop a life-saving drug. The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry, which was obtained in 2019 or later. Importantly, the candidate should be willing to learn background knowledge of other disciplines that are critical for drug discovery, such as Computer-Aided Drug Design and Cancer Biology.
Language required: English
Contact:
Interested individuals should send a cover letter, updated CV and the coordinates of 2-3 referees to Dr. Jian Hui Wu (email address: Jian.H.Wu@McGill.CA).
