The photobiotechnology group (Prof. thomas happe) at the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) Germany, is currently looking for enthusiastic young scientist with excellent working ethics and organizational skills to carry out studies with relevance in hydrogen producing enzymes. [FeFe]-hydrogenases are fastest enzyme catalyzing h2 production and oxidation. the happe group is one of the world leading groups  in the field. many important findings have been published in highly ranked journals like nature, nature chemical biology, nature communications, pnas, jacs, angewandte chemie, ees, acs catalysis, chemcal science) in the corresponding research field. more details can be found at our homepage: https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/pbt/index_EN.html

potential topics but not only confined to the following:
1.        relationship between structure and function in [FeFe]-hydrogenases.
2.        de novo design of h2 biocatalysist
3.        design of o2-tolerant [FeFe]-hydrogenases by site directed mutagenesis and by directed evolution combined with high throughput screening.
4.        characterization of new [FeFe]-hydrogenases
5.        characterization of proteins which are physiologically relevant with [FeFe]-hydrogenase: redox partner, maturases etc.
some topics within other interdisciplinary related with [FeFe]-hydrogenases are under development. the research group is flexible for students to develop themselves.

requirements:
the applicants should be eligible for the china scholarship council (csc) phd  and the expected time to begin will be around oct. 2021.  students with biology/chemistry background are welcome to join us.

1. strong motivation and interests in our topics are essential.
2. aplicants should have at least one 1st authorship in a published or accepted form  （manuscripts under preparation or submission are also fine at the moment but should be accpeted before end of march.）
