Monash University is a public research university based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1958, it is the second oldest university in the State of Victoria. It ranks 58 in QS world university ranking in 2020. Intelligent Design and Manufacturing Lab (I-DMD) at Monash is actively seeking Ph.D. students who are interested in smart design and manufacturing, additive manufacturing, design optimization and CAD/CAM. Smart Manufacturing creates high added value products through the integration of conception, design, manufacturing, and sustainment. Automation, online process control, augmented reality, and software integration all support this end. We are seeking multidisciplinary students to lead our research in this exciting and fast-moving field. Students who are interested in those fields are highly wanted:

a) AI aided design for additive manufacturing.

(b) Digital twin enabled adaptive process planning for additive manufacturing as well as hybrid manufacturing processes.

(c) Digital design and fabrication of multiscale functional smart structures and materials.
