Opening for PhD students at City University of Hong Kong

We are now having opening for PhD students from a variety of backgrounds (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemistry, biology). Candidates with cell culture, nanotechnology, or microfabrication will be highly preferred.

Our lab is focusing on leveraging micro/nanotechnology for investigation of mechanobiology. We have particular interest in cell’s left-right bias, e.g. rightward biased migration, rotation, and orientation. We recently discovered that cells can generate a torque with rotational bias depending on cell types. As a leading group in such rotational mechanics, our research provides a fundamental framework in guiding cell mechanics, stem cell differentiation, and tissue regeneration. In addition, We are also interested in development of biosensors based on nanotechnology and DNA nanomachines. That is to detect biomarkers in live cells or microfluidics assays for portable biosensors. Some related publications can be found below:
