Q1: A taurine control is required, as taurine mediates effects in the normal cell. One needs to distinguish those effects from the effect observed in the presence of LPS.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. Unfortunately, taurine alone group has not been conducted in the experiment, which might result in defects in the experimental design. Recent in vivo studies have shown that taurine treatment alone had no obvious changes on oxidative damage index (Amino Acids. 2018, 50(11):1637-1646.) and inflammatory cytokines expression (Regul Toxicol Pharmacol. 2018, 98:50-57.) and taurine exerts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity following LPS treatment. In the manuscript, we mainly discussed the effect of taurine on oxidative damage in LPS-induced rat thymus and wanted to assess the effect of taurine on LPS-induced rat thymus damage.
