We have a postdoctoral researcher position available in the group of Prof. Liangfei Tian (https://person.zju.edu.cn/ltian) in the Department of Biomedical engineering of the Zhejiang University to integrate synthetic biological circuits in protocellular system, and to explore signal transduction and interaction between engineered protocells and natural biological cells. The project is in close collaboration with the Synthetic Biological Circuit Engineering Lab led by Dr Baojun Wang in the Centre for Synthetic and Systems Biology at the University of Edinburgh (https://wang.bio.ed.ac.uk/).

We seek a highly motivated research scientist to work at the interface of two upcoming fields of Synthetic Biology and Systems Chemistry. The candidates will need to construct protocell system that can perform some essential biological function, and study the signal transduction between the protocell and biological cells, and investigate their potential applications in environmental biosensing, clinical diagnostics as well as biocomputing. Candidates should have a PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, synthetic biology or a closely related field. Relevant first-hand experience in microfluidic technologies, cell-free expression system or microbiology would be beneficial.

The position is available immediately. The funding for this position is secured for two years (with possibility of extension). We offer an international, interdisciplinary and challenging research environment, with the opportunity to work both in Hangzhou (China) and Edinburgh (UK), and exposure to the cutting-edge technologies in a cross-disciplinary project.

Please ensure that you include a covering letter and CV for the application. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.

To apply for this vacancy and to inquire further information about the role, please contact Prof. Tian: liangfei.tian@zju.edu.cn 返回小木虫查看更多
