Locations:
Polytechnique Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Founded in 1873, Polytechnique Montréal, technological university, is one of Canada's largest engineering teaching and research institutions. It is the Québec leader for the scope of its engineering research activities. With over 49,000 graduates, the institution offers more than 120 programs. Polytechnique has 260 professors and 8,600 students. The Polytechnique is known for its dynamic research, which represented over 40 percent of its budget ($81 million CAD research funding). Ecole Polytechnique leads the way in many areas of research: number of Canada Research Chairs (No. 1), total NSERC grants (No. 1), number of publications in engineering faculties in Canada (No. 5) and NSERC research grants in partnership with industry (No.1).

Job #1 description:
We have an immediate opening for MSc and Ph.D. positions to undertake experimental research (and related analysis) in the field of metallurgy for advance manufacturing. The main objective of the thesis will be to study the relationship between manufacturing parameters and the resulting microstructures and mechanical properties. The candidate will participate in all aspects of operating manufacturing and post processing equipment, advanced characterization technics and mechanical testing. This work will be conducted in an industrial-academia partnership.
Minimum requirement:
•        Bachelor or master’s degree in materials science, or related field
•        Strong academic background
•        Materials characterization experience (optical and electron microscopy)
•        Hands-on laboratory experience
•        Quantitative data analysis capability
•        Good communication ability
Job #2 description:
We have an immediate opening for a MSc or Ph.D. position to undertake computational process modeling work for additive manufacturing. AM is being used by the automotive and aerospace industry to “print” parts that traditionally are very complex, high cost, or long schedule lead items. Process involves many parameters that affect the mechanical properties of the parts. The main objective of the thesis will be to develop a finite element based model for sintering of binder jetting parts. The candidate will participate in all aspects of operating binder jet machine and post processing equipment, advanced characterization technics and mechanical testing. This work will be conducted in an industrial-academia partnership between Polytechnique Montreal and General Electric.
Minimum requirement:
•        Bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field within the past five years
•        Strong academic background
•        FEM and material constitutive behavior modeling experience
•        Strong mathematical background
•        Ability to work independently and in a team environment, as needed
•        Good communication ability 返回小木虫查看更多
