Fully funded Mechanical Engineering PhD student positions at the University of Rhode Island (2020/ 2021) 全奖机械工程博士招生,2020秋/2021春,机械/材料/生物背景优先

We are currently looking for Ph.D students to join the Microfluidics Laboratory at the University of Rhode Island (URI). Microfluidics manipulates fluids that are constrained to sub-millimeter scale, which provides significant advantages for various multidisciplinary studies, especially biology-related studies due to geometric similarity. Dr. Lin is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois at Chicago and will join URI in the Fall 2020 as an Assistant Professor. His research interests span from acoustofluidics, additive manufacturing, paper microfluidics, organ-on-a-chip, deep learning-enabled diagnosis and others.

Our offer
We offer two Mechanical Engineering PhD positions (fully funded with RA or TA position), dedicated to microfluidics, additive manufacturing and deep learning for biomedical applications. The positions are open for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 in the department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Systems Engineering at the University of Rhode Island (URI). The positions will remain open until filled by qualified candidates. More information about URI can be found at https://web.uri.edu/engineering/

Your role
You will contribute to the design and development of novel micro- and nano-fluidics systems in conjunction with additive manufacturing techniques, computational fluid mechanics, deep learning and biological/genetic methodologies. You will also be expected to engage in data analysis, fruitful collaborations, and strong publication activities.

Qualification
Ideal candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering or biological engineering with experience in microfluidics, additive manufacturing, cell culture, immunology, machine learning, and related work. Significant knowledge and hands-on experience in microfabrication and bioassays is preferred.

Contact information
To apply for the positions, please contact Dr. Lin (ylin212@uic.edu) by email with C.V. and a letter of motivation (no more than two pages) describing how you will contribute to our research and what research topics attract you the most. 返回小木虫查看更多
