about the wu lab (chemical biology of neurodegeneration)

dr. haifan wu obtained his bs degree in chemistry from nanjing university (china) in
2010. he then moved to the us and did his phd study at the university of south florida under
the supervision of prof. jianfeng cai. his phd work focused on the design and characterization
of peptides and peptidomimetics. in 2015, dr. wu joined prof. bill degrado’s group at uc san
francisco as a postdoctoral fellow to work on amyloid biochemistry and biophysics. in july
2020, dr. wu will join the department of chemistry at wichita state university as an assistant
professor. current research interests as listed below.

• drug discovery for alzheimer’s disease (ad)
• peptide/peptidomimetic library & high-throughput screening
• molecular and cellular mechanisms of ad pathogenesis
• amyloid structures & functions
• peptide/protein design & therapeutics

postdoctoral position-open
we are also looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in
organic/bioorganic chemistry or related fields. the qualified candidate will join our chemical
biology team to study immunoreceptors and protein aggregates using chemical probes.
qualifications:
• phd in chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline.
• strong background in synthetic organic chemistry.
• experience with protein biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology is a plus.
