南加Chapman University招两名博后 - Neuroscience and Philosophy of Free Will

Drs. Uri Maoz and Aaron Schurger, members of Chapman University Brain Institute, invite applications for two post-doctoral positions in the cognitive neuroscience of volition.

The two post-doctoral positions will be part of a large international project on the neuroscience and philosophy of free will, where 17 neuroscientists and philosophers from around the world will collaborate to explore the neural basis of volition, using experimental, theoretical and computational approaches. A list of the neuroscientists and philosophers closely collaborating on this project is available at https://www.neurophil-freewill.org/. The overarching focus of the project is the investigation of how the brain enables conscious, causal control of human behavior.

Qualifications The two positions have a slightly different focus. One is intended for a more computational person, especially with knowledge of machine learning and modeling; though they will also be expected to run experimental subjects and analyze results. The other position is intended for more of an experimentalist; though with interest and knowledge of computational techniques.

Required Qualifications

Postdoctoral Fellows must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent by the beginning of employment at Chapman University. The doctorate or equivalent must have been awarded within the last five years and the candidate must not have exceeded five years of prior postdoctoral experience.

Candidates must have a proven track record in the neuroscience of volition or a strong interest in the field. Candidates must further possess strong programming skills in Python and/or Matlab. In addition, candidates should have a solid background in at least two of the following areas:

- EEG
- TMS
- Machine learning
- Real-time data processing / neurofeedback / closed-loop analysis / BCIs
- Volition or consciousness research
- Models of causation

Desired Qualifications

Background in MEG and/or fMRI is a plus. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to lead one or more sub-projects within the scope of the grant, under the supervision of Brain Institute faculty. They will further be expected to help supervise graduate students and undergraduate research assistants as it pertains to their research.

Contact Information

Qualified candidates should electronically submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references to:
