名推荐人信息到 r. yufeng zheng: yufengz@unr.edu
yufeng zheng 简介:
dr. yufeng zheng is going to join the department of chemical and materials engineering at
university of nevada, reno as an assistant professor in fall 2019. dr. zheng’s novel metallic
materials design and advanced manufacturing research group will focus on exploring the processing-structure-property relationships in the metallic materials during advanced manufacturing using multi-scale ex-situ and in-situ characterization techniques. his research interests involve the discovery, synthesis and design of next generation highperformance metallic materials by microstructure engineering, especially the lightweight highperformance metallic materials, such as titanium alloys produced by additive manufacturing for aerospace, chemical and bio-medical applications.
before joining university of nevada reno, dr. yufeng zheng worked as a research associate in the center for the accelerated maturation of materials at the ohio state university after obtaining his phd majoring in materials science and engineering from the ohio state university in the year of 2013, under the supervision of prof. hamish l. fraser. dr. zheng’s research is focusing on the design of next generation of high-performance metallic materials for structural application including titanium alloys, high entropy alloys, magnesium alloys and superalloys utilizing advanced characterization techniques, such as atomic resolution aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy and atom probe tomography. dr. zheng has conducted extensive study in the field of nonclassical phase transformation mechanisms and deformation mechanisms in various metastable beta titanium alloys involving nano-scale structural and compositional instabilities by coupling multi-scale characterization (e.g. tem, hrstem and apt) and computational simulation (e.g. phase field modeling and first principle calculation). dr. zheng has published 36 papers (23 as first author and 6 as corresponding author) in the peerreviewed journal and international conference proceedings and he has presented his work over 20 times at international conferences. dr. zheng was named among five finalists for the aaronson award for outstanding young researcher at the 2015 international conference on solid-solid phase transformation in inorganic materials.
dr. zheng is the secretary of tms titanium committee and an active member in the tms phase transformation committee. he has organized and chaired technical symposiums in the field of titanium metallurgy and phase transformation at various international conferences. dr. zheng has been invited as guest editor for special topic in jom. he has also serviced as manuscript reviewer for more than 15 different peer-reviewed journals in the area of metallurgy, materials processing and characterization. due to his excellent service, dr. zheng has been awarded as outstanding reviewer by the journal of scripta materialia in feb 2019.
