申请港大PhD，老师的回复了我的套磁/套瓷信，内容求解读，非常感谢
给香港大学心仪的导师发了邮件问他今年招不招PhD，得到了以下回复：
Thanks for your email. Yes, I am currently open to supervising students. The application, however, happens in the Fall. Let's stay in touch, so that you can develop a competitive proposal for your application.
有两个问题请求大家帮忙解读：
1) 能看出来回复还算积极（至少没拒绝我），但是我不明白的是这句话：The application, however, happens in the Fall.
可是港大官网对于2019年秋季入学是这么写的，申请时间，Main Round：September 1 – December 1, 2018；1st Clearing Round: December 2, 2018 – April 30, 2019.
我打算在1st Clearing Round申请，应该还是符合规定的吧？可是为什么导师要这么回复呢？他是在暗示今年的申请已经结束了，所以我只能申请明年入学了吗？求解！！Help！！！！！！！！！！！
2) 另外，因为导师有提到我的proposal，我打算回复：I am close to completing the first draft of my research proposal. If you are still interested in reading it, would you mind if I send you my proposal by the end of next week? 因为我还没有proofread我的proposal，所以我打算先回复一封邮件这么写。然后下周末之前再重新发一封邮件，把写好的proposal发给他。请问这么回复合适吗？谢谢！！！！！！！！！
第一次申请PhD实在有些紧张，全程都是自己DIY，如果问题有些“蠢”，还请谅解，望大家不吝赐教。非常感谢。

每个导师每学期可以收学生都有名额的吧 是不是在暗示你他秋季学期才有位置可以让你申请 当然会有其他学生也一起申请 都是竞争关系 这里面的proposal感觉不是指的我们答辩的proposal呢 只不过客气的告诉你这样提前一直联系着 可能在竞争的时候你会稍占优势（只是客气吧） 也是我个人的看法 不知是否正确 仅供参考

非常感谢你的回复。不好意思要再打扰一下，关于老师说的'The application, however, happens in the Fall.'，可以请问你是怎么理解的呢？我现在担心老师的意思是，申请一般是在秋季，所以他希望我今年秋天再申请，然后2020年才入学。其实我是想马上申请，然后赶末班车（clearing round）2019年入学的。
