Two Ph.D. positions in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) are available immediately. The positions can be started as early as Jan 22, 2019 if possible.??Successful candidates will participate in a vibrant interdisciplinary and collaborative research group in our Blast and Impact Dynamics Lab at Ole Miss, and be involved in projects pursuing?research in the field of shockwave/high-strain rate impact simulations, material and constitutive modeling, and failure analysis. Applicants in the areas of computational mechanics, continuum mechanics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering or other closely related fields are welcome.
Requirements:
1.??? A B.S. or B.E. in engineering (mechanical, materials science) or physics. M.S. or M. E. is a plus.
2.??? Research experience in at least two of the following areas: finite element modeling, meshless methods, DFT calculation, atomistic simulations (MD/MM) and coarse grained modeling. Multiscale modeling skills will be particularly favorable.
3.??? GRE, TOEFL and/or IELTS exam scores
Experience in programming for high-performance computing is desirable but not required.
