Position: New PhD position (starting from Sep 2019) in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong (Not the same position as announced in August).

There is one new available position of the PhD Candidate in the field of the building energy technology, renewable energy technologies, Solar heating and cooling, and energy flexibilities in the Department of Building Services Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. This position is different from the position announced by me in August.

Position start date: September 1st 2019.
Duration: Three years.

Please note that the first two years' funding of this new PhD position has been secured, whereas the funding of the 3rd year has not been fixed yet. However, the funding of the 3rd year of this position is expected to be covered by various funding sources, and the funding situation in the Department of Building Services Engineering is quite healthy now.

Requirements:
(1) With a Master's degree (or will have graduated before July 15th 2019) or equivalent in the field of energy engineering, HVAC technology, thermodynamics and heat transfer, building energy technology, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or applied physics.
(2) Strong competence in the building energy simulation (most preferably TRNSYS), modelling and optimization.
(3) Outstanding academic and publication records.
(4) Hard working and high sense of responsibility.
(5) English Requirement: Applicants who have not obtained a degree of which the language of instruction was English from a recognised university are required to obtain an overall score of at least 6.5 (with score for the writing component at 6.0 or above) in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or 550 or above in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for the paper-based test (with a score of at least 4 out of 6 in the Test of Written English), or 80 or above in the internet-based test (with a writing score of 23 or above).
