2019 Fall PhD positions in control, optimization, machine learning at UTK

Ph.D. positions are available at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, TN, USA) in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering (https://mabe.utk.edu/) in the area of control, optimization, and machine learning with emphasis on autonomous vehicle systems. In addition to a waiver of tuition and fees, the Graduate Assistantship positions also provide your health insurance and monthly stipend in the amount of more than $2,000. Selected candidates could start as soon as Fall 2019.

The ideal candidate should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a closely related field of engineering and science. The candidate should be self-motivated and committed to getting a Ph.D. degree, and is expected to have a strong interest in guidance, navigation and control of various types of vehicle systems. Candidates with experience in optimal control, convex optimization, machine learning, mathematical programming, modeling and simulation, and numerical methods are highly desired.
