PhD position with full scholarship support (tuition & stipend) at Prof. Jiafeng Xie's research group @ Villanova University (spring 2019/fall 2019, preferred to start early)

1. Villanova University is a private research university located in Radnor Township, a suburb northwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. U.S. News & World Report ranks Villanova as tied for the 49th best National University in the U.S. for 2019.

2. Research area. Hardware security (hardware obfuscation), cryptographic engineering, and hardware implementation of deep neural network related systems

3. Qualification. Preferred to have research experience in the area of VLSI design, cryptography, and machine learning (deep neural network systems). Students from electrical engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics or other related majors are WARMLY welcome! Programming skills such as HDL, C++, Python are required.

6. Additional brief introduction. Dr. Jiafeng Xie received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh on 12/2014. He was a tenure-track Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at Wright State University from 01/2015-07/2018. He then joins the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Villanova University. His research interests include cryptographic engineering, hardware security, and VLSI digital design for deep neural systems. Most of his publications are available through IEEE Xplore.
