A position at postdoctoral level is available in the Ultrafast and Quantum Optics laboratory (https://faculty.fiu.edu/~hebli/) at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, USA. The laboratory is led by Dr. Hebin Li. The research of this position will focus on the study of semiconductor 2D materials (primarily TMDs) by using ultrafast spectroscopic techniques.

Overall, the laboratory’s areas of interest include ultrafast spectroscopy and quantum optics. Ultrafast spectroscopic techniques such as pump-probe, four-wave-mixing, and two-dimensional coherent spectroscopy are utilized to study many-body physics and electron dynamics in atoms/molecules, semiconductor 2D materials and their derivatives. We also study quantum mechanical properties of light and utilize them to probe/manipulate different quantum mechanical systems. The interaction of light with an atom-like solid-state system such as semiconductor quantum dots are studied in the context of quantum information processing and quantum metrology.

At this position, you will work on both 2D material heterostructures and defect-induced quantum dots in 2D materials. The optical properties and excitonic dynamics will be studied by our unique capability of 2D coherent spectroscopy. The research will be carried out in a very well-equipped laboratory including two femtosecond laser systems, high-resolution spectrometers, actively stabilized platforms for multidimensional spectroscopy, nano-resolution delay stages, stable semiconductor laser systems, photon counting equipment, closed-cycle liquid helium cryostat, and more (see detail at https://faculty.fiu.edu/~hebli/in-the-lab/).

Successful applicants for this position should have a Ph.D. degree in physics or related discipline with laboratory experience in one or more of the following areas: femtosecond ultrafast spectroscopy, 2D material fabrication (mechanical exfoliation, CVD, transfer, etc.), optical characterization of 2D materials (Raman, PL, pump-probe, correlation, etc.), low-temperature (liquid helium) measurements.

The positions are available immediately and will be open until filled. To apply or to obtain further details, please email your CV to Dr. Hebin Li (hebin.li@fiu.edu). 返回小木虫查看更多
