Delete the statement "the first two authors contributed equally to this work" (Such statements are not permitted by JAFC (see Author Guidelines) as they are meaningless and scientifically unmeasurable. All listed authors should have made essential contributions to the work, otherwise they should not be included. Furthermore, if disputes arise as to authors' contributions the Journal would become involved in what is solely a matter within the institution(s)).
