Doctoral Candidate Position in Artificial Intelligence

The candidate will join a research project about artificial intelligence applications in manufacturing and construction industries. The candidate is responsible for algorithm development and system prototyping.

Target degree: Doctor of Science (Technology)

Study time: Four years (when studying full-time)

Supervisor: Prof. Yu Xiao (mobilecloud.aalto.fi)

Starting date: September 1st, 2018 or any other mutually agreeable date

Site of Research: Department of Communications and Networking (COMNET), School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto University

Research area: artificial intelligence in manufacturing

Optional topics: wearable cognitive assistance, deep video analytic

The candidate must have a master’s degree (or equivalence) in electrical engineering, computer science, cognitive science or in a related study with excellent results.  The candidate must have a high motivation for research, and enjoy working in an international and cross-disciplinary team.

Skills and qualities required to apply

Basic knowledge of computer vision and machine learning
excellent programming skills, preferable in multiple languages
good written and oral communication skills in English
good organization skills
rigorous thinking
ability to work independently
research experience in the field of computer vision or machine learning is considered a plus
