A funded Ph.D. position opening in SSIE department at the State University of New York at Binghamton

The Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering (SSIE) in the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University (The State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a Ph.D. student position starting in Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. The successful candidate will be financially supported by Dr. Fuda Ning to pursue research in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing. Dr. Ning authored and co-authored more than 40 publications, which have been cited for almost 500 times. He is the invited reviewer for about 20 journals and serves as the member of ASME and SME. His main research interests include

        Laser additive manufacturing of metallic and composite parts
        Extrusion-based additive manufacturing of novel composite materials
        Ultrasonic assisted manufacturing technology
        Traditional and nontraditional machining processes

Requirements

For this position, the applicants must have a B.S. or M.S. Degree (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Sciences or a closely related field. Preference will be given to highly motivated candidates with research background/knowledge in Advanced Manufacturing or Materials Processing.
