Admission Requirements
Candidates for this position (“Science and Technology Management Grants”) should have a Ph.D. degree and, at least, 3 years of recognised research experience using MS techniques. Candidates with shorter experience in the technique, but with an outstanding Curriculum Vitae in the area of application, may also be considered. Experience in MS equipment/techniques (MALDI-TOF, LCMS), management and maintenance will be valued in the evaluation process.
Workplan
The candidate will have the following main specific responsibilities:
• Management of the MS research lab of CQM;
• Technical maintenance of the MS equipment, as well as optimization, implementation, and updating of techniques and procedures;
• Development of scientific research using Mass Spectrometry, including in collaboration with other researchers at CQM in the field of natural products and nanomaterials;
• Training of young researchers in the MS techniques;
• Promotion of activities in the framework of the Portuguese Mass Spectrometry Network;
• Participation in general CQM activities, such as science spreading and conference/course organization.
2.Ph.D. researcher with expertise in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) (Management and Research) at CQM-Madeira Chemistry Research Centre, University of Madeira, Portugal
Admission Requirements
Candidates for this position (“Science and Technology Management Grants”) should have a Ph.D. degree and, at least, 3 years of recognized research experience using liquid NMR. Candidates with shorter experience in the technique, but with an outstanding Curriculum Vitae in the area of application, may also be considered. Experience in dendrimers characterization and/or in NMR equipment management and maintenance will be valued in the evaluation process.
Workplan
The candidate will have the following main specific responsibilities:
• Management of the NMR research lab of CQM;
• Technical maintenance of the 400 MHz NMR equipment, as well as optimization, implementation, and updating of techniques and procedures;
• Development of scientific research using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, including in collaboration with other researchers at CQM;
• Training of young researchers in the NMR technique;
• Promotion of activities in the framework of the Portuguese NMR Network;
• Participation in general CQM activities, such as science spreading and conference/course organization.
3.Postdoctoral researcher with experience in Chemical Synthesis to work at CQM-Madeira Chemistry Research Centre, University of Madeira, Portugal – TOPIC 4: Synthesis of hyperbranched polymers for incorporation into bionanosensors for the diagnostic of infectious diseases (like Dengue and Zika fevers).
Admission Requirements
Candidates for this position (“Postdoctoral Grant”) should have experience in synthesis and characterization of hyperbranched polymers for application in nanosensors, less than 5 years after Ph.D., a strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team, very good communication skills and ability to meet deadlines. Experience in the hyperbranched polymers (namely dendrimers and dendrons) and carbon materials (namely carbon dots) synthesis and/or transference of knowledge and technology will be valued in the evaluation process.
