All unsolicited manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Materials Science are evaluated against criteria that include: fit with the mission statement of the journal, perceived quality and novelty of the work, potential interest to the readership of JMS, and standard of presentation (including adherence to the instructions for authors, the standard of technical written English, and the quality of figures). This process reduces the burden on our external peer reviewers and gives authors of less suitable manuscripts prompt feedback so that they may seek a more appropriate place to publish their work.

We regret to inform you that your submission did not receive a high enough rating in the screening process to be considered further. It is our sincere hope that this rapid editorial decision will enable you to submit the manuscript for publication elsewhere and will not delay the dissemination of your work unduly.
