继Chem，Joule之后，Cell丰富其子刊系统，向生命科学以外扩展的又一重要举措。

这个新子刊也将能为Cell旗下的综合学科开源新杂志：iScience（预计将成为Nat. Commun./Sci. Adv.的竞争者）带来地学和环境领域的稿源。

当然，Cell至少还应该推出物理和材料方向的子刊，其学科体系才算勉强完善。iScience也才能得到各个学科的充足稿源。

广告中对新子刊的描述：

This journal aims to publish the most exciting and significant advances in all areas of environmental sustainability research, including environmental science, earth science, climate trends, conservation, socioeconomic impact and sustainability. Its strong contribution to the field will complement new premium chemistry journal from Cell Press, Chem, its sister journal, Joule, covering energy research, and the broader Elsevier environmental science portfolio. The journal will have a variety of formats to encourage fast and effective communication of new research findings.
