Graduate Research Assistant in Bioprocess Engineering (New 2018!)

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Graduate Assistantships (Ph.D.) are available for outstanding candidates who are interested in the following research areas:

1. Lignin valorization for fuels, chemicals and advanced materials;
2. Catalysis and biocatalysis for lignocellulosic biomass;
3. Bio-based nano-materials.

You will work together with a cluster of university wide researchers to explore lignin based chemicals and advanced materials, advanced-membrane technologies for energy production and water purification, and electrochemical energy storage (through recent NSF EPSCoR fundings, read more at: https://kynsfepscor.org/).

Qualifications:   The candidates should have:

1. An earned M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Bio/Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Material Science and Engineering.
2. Good knowledge of one or more of the aforementioned research areas.
3. With credentials sufficient for admission into the UKY graduate school (GPA>3.0; TOEFL>93 or IELTS>6.5, for international students; GRE Test Scores) – Applications must be received by March 15th, 2018.
4. Ability to formulate and conduct experiments including data collection and analysis.
5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
