Cell已经有自己的开源期刊Cell Rep.，现在又推出iScience。这个新杂志的定位不是很清楚，可能相当于综合学科版的Cell Rep.或者说是Cell旗下的Nat. Commun./Sci. Adv.。但也可能是Cell旗下的Sci. Rep./Plos One。

关于这一点，杂志主页的信息似乎是矛盾的。一方面说要求对相关领域产生重要贡献，听上去定位非常高。可另一方面却又说，重复性的工作都可以发表？

”The primary criterion for publication in iScience is a significant contribution to a relevant field combined with robust results and underlying methodology... To support transparency in scientific investigation, we are happy to consider replication studies and papers that describe negative results.“
