在一个投稿期刊看到了这样一段话，不知道对于figure 的大小到底是怎么要求的。还有illustration到底是怎么要求的！！，求各位大神帮忙！！！
Figures must be saved individually and separate to text . Please do not embed figures in the
manuscript file.
All illustrations should be prepared for printing to fit 80 × 240 mm (column width) or 169 mm
in width by up to 240 mm in length (full page). It is preferred that the full-page length is not used
and that authors keep in mind that the caption will be placed underneath the figure . In the event
that full-page length is necessary for plates, captions will have to appear on adjacent pages.
Computer prepared photographic images must have a minimum resolution of 350 dpi at the final
publication size, colour figures minimum 600 dpi . Lower resolutions are not acceptable.

其实没有严格区别，要区分就，前者偏示意图，后者偏数据图。
这两者区别不大。
个人理解小图称为figure，大图称为illustration。
文中已说明，figure要单独保存成文件，独立于文稿之外，不要将图插入到文稿中。相信illustration的要求也是一样的。
illustration要求8cm X 24 cm，不建议搞成整张篇幅大小。
具体情况请查阅所投期刊近期文章或投过该期刊的作者。

只要figure的分辨率达到要求，figure和illustration和大小不超过一页的篇幅即可。
投稿分辨率够就可以，300ppi不会出问题，图片大小之类的，编辑会帮你弄的。
