Like the Nature Research journals, Scientific Reports is committed to increasing the reproducibility of the research it publishes and therefore supports Nature’s policies on sharing of research data and materials (see the related editorial).

The policy expresses our strong preference for research data to be archived in public, specialised data repositories wherever possible, and in many fields this is a mandatory requirement. In addition, the Nature policy encourages authors to consider submitting an additional publication, alongside their primary research article, to our sister journal, Scientific Data.

Scientific Data publishes Data Descriptors, which are peer-reviewed articles that release and describe research datasets in a comprehensive fashion to support data reuse. Publishing a Data Descriptor can facilitate discovery, reuse and citation of your research data.
