The recruited position will mainly engage the research work at Strathclyde University.

1.Introduction of research team
Shenzhen University and the Institute of Photonics in the University of Strathclyde established a cooperation about III-V semiconductor optoelectronics devices. The purpose is to combine the research resources of the both universities to make the leading international research results and this PDF position will mainly engage in research work at Strathclyde University.

(1) Supervisor in Strathclyde University: Professor Martin Dawson

Professor Martin D. Dawson is a physicist known for his work on lasers and compound semiconductors. He is Director of Research in the University of Strathclyde’s Institute of Photonics, which he helped to establish 20 years ago, and he was also appointed inaugural Head of the Fraunhofer Center for Applied Photonics (F-CAP) in October 2012.
Martin has over 30 years’ experience of applied research gained in academia and industry in the UK and USA and he has been involved in the formation and technical development of a number of spin-out businesses, most recently including micro LED Ltd. He has published more than 400 papers in leading journals and international conferences. In addition, he was awarded the 2016 Gabor Medal and Prize by the Institute of Physics and the 2016 Aron Kessel Award by the IEEE Photonics Society and he also earned other honors like “Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers”,” Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh” and so on.

(2)Supervisor in Shenzhen University: Dr. Ling Zhu
   Dr. Ling. Zhu is an assistant professor of Shenzhen University. She received her PhD from the University of Hong Kong in 2011 and she joined CREE after graduation. Dr. Zhu has more than 10 years’s experience about III-V semiconductor optoelectronics devices, especially in area of GaN LEDs.  She published more than 20 intentional papers with first authorship on  on the IEEE Transaction IEEE Photonics, Technology Letter and other journals and international conferences, including a cover-page paper for initial issue of IEEE Photonics, and another invited paper for Photonics Global Conferenc2010. 3.Major pieces of equipment
1)Chemical workstations housed in a photolithography cleanroom, including photoresist      spinners, hotplates, and ultrasonic baths.
2)Karl Suss MA6 mask aligner for contact lithography down to 2 micron resolution.
3)Oxford plasma-enhanced chemical vapour deposition system for silicon oxide deposition.
4)CVC sputter system equipped with 8-inch gold, titanium and aluminium targets.
5)Edwards e-beam evaporator with 4-position hearth, used with metals including gold, nickel, titanium, aluminium and palladium.
6)Jipelec rapid thermal annealing system.
7)Two STPS inductively coupled plasma etch systems, with chlorine, boron trichloride, oxygen, argon and hydrogen available as prcess gases. These tools are particularly effective in processing of materials resistant to more traditional etching techniques, including GaN, SiC, diamond and sapphire.
8)Two Oxford reactive ion etch tools, respectively optimised for etching of dielectrics with fluorine chemistry, and for sputter etching, for example of metal layers.
9)Matrix plasma asher for descum.
10)Speciality Coating Systems parylene deposition tool.
11)Cleanroom metrology equipment: Filmetrics spectroscopic reflectometer, Dektak stylus profiler, and optical microscopes.
12)Kulicke and Soffa wedge wirebonder.
13)Fineplacer flip-chip bonder with 5 micron X-Y positioning accuracy. 
14)Probe station and network analyser for electrical characterisation.

4. Requirements
1)Candidates should have received or is expected to receive a Ph. D. in related fields.
2)Good English reading and writing ability;
3)Strong theoretical and professional background;
4)No more than 35 years of age.

5. Salary
1)Annual salary is 25.5-28k RMB
2)After leaving the station, you can be recommended to work in Shenzhen University priority.
3)After leaving the station, you can apply for 300k RMB research start-up funding if you choose to work in Shenzhen
4)Qualified personnel in line with the Shenzhen reserve talents can get 800k RMB housing subsidies.
5)Overseas doctor to stay in Shenzhen work can apply for Shenzhen peacock plan 1.6-2 million RMB housing subsidies; if you stay in Shenzhen University, you can apply for 3-5 million RMB research start-up funds (2016 high-level talent policy)
