National University of Singapore
Dr. Huilin Shao received her BA from Cornell University, with a double major in Biological Sciences and in Physics. She completed her dual PhD (Biophysics) at
Harvard University and PhD (Medical Engineering) from Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) under the guidance of Profs. Ralph Weissleder and Robert S. Langer. After a postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. Hakho Lee at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Dr. Shao returned to Singapore and started her
research group. Her research focuses on developing integrated nanotechnology-based platforms for molecular analyses of novel biomarkers. Her work has been published in
top journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Nature Medicine, Nature Communications and highlighted in major reviews and popular news media.
We are seeking highly motivated and talented postdoctoral fellows, students and research officers. Please contact Dr. Shao (huilin.shao@nus.edu.sg) if you are interested in
joining our team. Please visit our website for more information (https://bioeng.nus.edu.sg/shaolab/)
Our current research projects include:
1. Circulating biomarkers (e.g., exosomes, extracellular vesicles) for noninvasive diagnostics and therapeutics
2. Novel assay development for diverse molecular analyses
3. Organic and inorganic nanomaterial synthesis and applications
4. Microfluidics for point-of-care clinical applications
5. Development of highly sensitive miniaturized magnetic, optical and electrical sensors

Is a GRE score necessary for any applicant to NUS?
