PhD opportunity in Dept. of Chemical Engineering, University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

The Industrial Biotechnology group is looking for potential PhD graduate students for the coming 2017 Spring and/or Fall semester. The primary research interest of the group is to build an industrial biotechnology research platform to make fuels, chemicals, and bioactives from renewable resources. Advanced biochemical engineering methods and tools including metabolic engineering; bioprocess modeling, optimization, and control; bioreactor and bioreaction engineering; and integrated continuous biomanufacturing technology will be applied to build the research platform. The initial focus will be a non-conventional yeast Sample Text as a model organism. After that, the research platform will be further extended to other organisms, including bacteria, microalgae, and other yeasts for various industrial biotechnology applications.
