The University (https://www.rmit.edu.au)
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) has been at the forefront of computer science education since the early 1960s; pioneering some of Australia¡ˉs first computing courses, while forging a reputation for research excellence in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).

The School
Collaborating with blue chip industry partners and maintaining a strong research presence, the School of Computer Science and Information Technology is one of the country's largest and most industry-focused ICT program providers.

Rising in the rankings
RMIT's reputation in the field of ICT continues to rise:
Ranked in the top group of eight Australian universities for Computer Science and Information Systems (2014 QS World University Rankings).
Rated in the top 100 universities worldwide for Computer Science and Information Systems (2014 QS World University Rankings).
Ranked 1st in Australia for Database research (Microsoft Academic Search) and 2nd in Asia/Oceania for Information Retrieval research (Microsoft Academic Search).
Rated "Above World Standard" (ERA 4) for research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing (0801) and Information Systems (0806) by the Australian Research Council.

The Supervisor (https://www.rmit.edu.au/contact/ ... a-professor-athman/)
Athman Bouguettaya is Professor and Head of School of Computer Science and Information Technology at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA) in 1992.  He was previously Science Leader in Service Computing at CSIRO ICT Centre, Canberra. Australia. Before that, he was a tenured faculty member and Program director in the Computer Science department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (commonly known as Virginia Tech) (USA).  He is a founding member and past President of the Service Science Society, a non-profit organization that aims at forming a community of service scientists for the advancement of service science. He is or has been on the editorial boards of several journals including, the IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, the International Journal on Next Generation Computing, VLDB Journal, and Distributed and Parallel Databases Journal.  He served as a guest editor of a number of special issues including the special issue of the ACM Transactions on Internet Technology on Semantic Web services, a special issue the IEEE Transactions on Services Computing on Service Query Models, and a special issue of IEEE Internet Computing on Database Technology on the Web. He served as a Program Chair of the 2012 International Conference on Web and Information System Engineering, the 2009 and 2010 Australasian Database Conference, 2008 International Conference on Service Oriented Computing (ICSOC) and the IEEE RIDE Workshop on Web Services for E-Commerce and E-Government (RIDE-WS-ECEG'04). He has published more than 200 books, book chapters, and articles in journals and conferences in the area of databases and service computing (e.g., the IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, the ACM Transactions on the Web, WWW Journal, VLDB Journal, SIGMOD, ICDE, VLDB, and EDBT). He was the recipient of several federally competitive grants in Australia (e.g., ARC) and the US (e.g., NSF, NIH). He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM.

The Research Laboratory (https://www.scslab.net)
The Sensors, Clouds and Services Laboratory (SCSLab) is an internationally recognised research institute for innovation and applied research, focused on interdisciplinary research areas of sensor, cloud, and service computing. The SCSLab's mission is to develop a world-class creative environment that will foster innovation and support the development of a team of highly innovative researchers. The SCSLab will focus on the design and development of innovative sensor and cloud technologies and applications, delivered as services.

The Project
Sensor cloud service is the next generation platform for Internet of Things services delivery and management. A sensor cloud service employs sensors for data collection, clouds for data storage and processing, and services paradigm for data delivery. Security and privacy are critical issues in sensor cloud services, considering the dispersity, diversity, and heterogeneity of these services. Trust is well acknowledged as an efficient means to preserve security and privacy. The aim of this project is to design a novel and innovative framework for ascertaining trust in sensor cloud services. A trust management system will be specifically implemented by means of a set of techniques that deals with the end-to-end establishment, management, and propagation of trust in sensor cloud services. Additionally the important issue of services trustworthiness bootstrapping will be investigated.
