Certainly that the La3+ impurities tend to a 2+ oxidation degree (5d1 6s0). Thus the Zn ions keep approximately their d10 s0 configuration, and remain non-magnetic. I don’t know if it is physically realistic or if it comes from a problem in the calculation set-up. The authors could calculate the magnetic moments per atoms and also the oxidation degree
