之前论文投稿了，修改意见是大修，由于审稿意见很尖锐，我们对文章不是很有信心，打算换杂志重投。于是，我向编辑阐明原因，并以一名学生即将毕业，需要尽快发表 文章为由，向编辑提出了撤稿决定。结果收到如下编辑回复。说实话，我没看懂编辑在说什么，感觉他说的拐弯抹角的，完全不懂。请大家帮我看看编辑啥意思

Dear Dr. XXX,

sorry for the delay I am just back from a vacation.

I am sorry of the situation! I understand the need of your student, and I wish the best to him/her.

However my duty is another one, namely, to provide a fair feedback on your paper in the interest of science. I have asked three excellent colleagues, following your request, and they have raised scientific question. This is quite standard; usually I ask 3 people to get 2 reports, but occasionally I am lucky and we get more useful feedback.

Moreover, I seem to understand that the referees largely agree and I do not perceive any prejudice from both sides.

I believe I am doing my best and I do not have enough motivation to do anything else, besides that and on top of that I do not see a request from you. From my point of  view, now this is your turn to decide what is the best to do.

I have explained my position. In case I misunderstood your letter and you want to ask me something more precise, please do let me know.
