Engineer for Laboratory Devices Design and Development
At the center for Synthetic Bio-Engineering Research of SIAT/GIAT, we work on bio-engineering solutions for medical, environmental, and nutritional problems.
But we also intent to shape and improve the way how we and biologists around the world are doing research. In a multi-disciplinary team of biologists and engineers we work on modern, modular, miniaturized laboratory devices to make bio-engineering experiments faster and more reliable.
For this team we are now recruiting a mechanical/design engineer. You will be involved in the product development process from start to end, especially with the following tasks:
1.        Help biologists to develop new concepts for components, modules, and devices;
2.        Convert concept design to detailed design drawings for the manufacturing of prototypes;
3.        Work with suppliers in the Pearl River Delta to manufacture prototypes;
4.        Work with biologists to test and improve prototypes;

Requirements:
1.        Master degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
2.        Good knowledge of 3D CAD (e.g. SolidEdge, ProE, ...)
3.        Talent to create simple and effective designs
4.        Willingness to excel in a multi-disciplinary team
5.        Interest in medical or laboratory devices (handheld, desktop, rack-mounted)
6.        Can communicate with suppliers and manufacturers in the Pearl River Delta
7.        Good grasp of English in speaking and writing to collaborate with English speaking project partners
8.        Willingness to travel in the Pearl River Delta
9.        Stationed at GIAT in Guangzhou/Nansha

Helpful experience and interests:
1.        Design and manufacturing of medical or laboratory devices
2.        Understanding of fluid mechanics and process equipment (e.g. pumps, valves, reactors, ...)
3.        Experience with manufacturing, especially machining of plastics and metals
4.        Precision engineering and manufacturing
