Graduate student & Postdoc positions available
Several graduate student & postdoc positions are available to study the following topics:
1. Advanced Materials Fabrication. The goal is to fabricate robust inorganic materials for renewable energy and electronic devices, for example porous materials, carbon materials (CNT, graphene and etc.), 2-D materials (WS2, MoS2 and etc.) and thin-films. Expertise needed: different nano-materials synthesis techniques and basic materials characterization (XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman, XPS, and etc.).
Note: Our first priority is the candidates with carbon materials and CVD growth expertise.
2. Renewable Energy Devices. Develop clean energy generation and renewable energy storage devices based on advanced materials. Proposed sub-topics include Li-ion batteries, supercapacitors, electrocatalysts for water splitting, solar fuel cell and metal-air batteries. Expertise needed: applied electrochemistry and renewable energy.
Note: Candidates with battery-related work experience are preferred.
3. Smart and Advanced Energy Devices. Develop flexible and high performance thin-film electrodes for flexible energy devices and micro-batteries/supercapacitors. Integrate energy generation devices (solar cells or piezoelectric materials) with flexible energy devices to build self-powered systems. Expertise needed: device assembly and micro-/nano-fabrication.
Note: Candidates with micro-batteries/supercapacitors experience are preferred.
We are looking for creative, enthusiastic, and self‐motivated candidates from diverse backgrounds and disciplines; including applied electrochemistry, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or related fields. Experiences and skills in energy storage, electrochemistry, nanomaterials and flexible electronics are encouraged. Highly motivated candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, names of three references, transcript, and a cover letter expressing their interest, brief description of research experience, and their qualifications for one of the specific positions described above.
